Saw "The U.S. vs. John Lennon" film yesterday. Liked it a lot. John Lennon has always been a big bright human hero of mine. Film reminded me of how well Lennon could argue and how well he could stand up to opposing forces.
Several Fluxus pieces make it into the film: some frames from Yoko's Cut Piece and Lennon & Ono posing in front of one of Maciunas's anti-Vietnam war posters.
Movie made me sad, though. Made me realize how much the spirit of "rebellion" has been co-opted, misdirected, and lost during the last 30 years, how well developed and advanced the the rightwing's control and manipulation of the American public has become during this time, and how much the rogue presidency of Bush and company has now tried to institutionalize all of this.
