Censorship on Fluxlist

To my surprise two messages I posted on the Fluxlist were removed. Lucky enough we published them also on Fluxlist Europe. Why this Censorship?

...Allan... I was attacked and reacted with humor. I don't see any personal attack in my posting... Your actions of removing without consulting me and your online postings now show a different story about me...

More people start to be aggressive towards me... It is made impossible for me to create on such a list...

Litsa,

You are welcome to continue posting on the Fluxlist Blog if you want to. Like nearly every other artist, I do not like censorship. Art is supposed to question the dominant culture and ideas of the day and Fluxus should be an open forum for the free expression of ideas. I think that you will find that moderating a communal blog is not always easy. As a moderator you have to serve your community and that may occasionally require that posts or comments get removed because they lead to flame wars, bickering, and to people within your community feeling hurt or diminished.

I think that it is reasonable to expect that members of a community will treat each other with respect and that they won't deliberately hurt each other or destroy their own community. You have very generously invited me to your Fluxlist Europe blog and despite being removed (temporarily I hope) from the Fluxlist Blog, have continued to maintain my membership. But how long could you do that if I started insulting you personally, or started making derogatory comments about other members of your blog? Of course as an artist your first tendency would probably be the same as mine... "just let it go", "I am not a censor". But what happens when other people that you like and admire start getting hurt, or abandon your site, or start lashing out at each other?

In the end we are all just ordinary human beings trying to do our best to be decent to each other.

I have sent you an invitation to rejoin the Blog and I hope that you do.
