Why? I will create a structure from all the pieces of wood you send me.
Then I will build a totem using rocks with participants' initials.
The wooden structure will be burned and the ashes will be sent to you as part of the project documentation.
The rock totem will stand as long as it wants to.

Original Ray Johnson drawing

We were lucky to find in the bookshop "Specific Object" in Chelsea Ray Johnson's book "The Paper Snake" published in 1965 by The Something Else Press, New York.
To our surprise the book had an original drawing of a ladder in ballpen by Ray Johnson.
An "adder" is a kind of viper snake.

Η διάκριση μπορεί να έρθει και χωρίς μετάλλια. Στον Μαραθώνιο της Κολωνίας οι δύο δρομείς διακρίθηκαν στα μάτια του κοινού, καθώς επέλεξαν να τονίσουν τη σημασία που έχει η άσκηση στα οστά, το μυϊκό και το καρδιαγγειακό σύστημα του οργανισμού. Το κατάφεραν αυτό σχεδιάζοντας στο γυμνό κορμί τους τα ανατομικά υποστρώματα του ανθρώπινου σώματος που «ευεργετούνται» από τον αθλητισμό. Το χειροκρότημα σε κάθε στροφή του μαραθωνίου ερχόταν απλόχερα επιβραβεύοντας τον αγώνα, την τόλμη, αλλά και την ευρηματικότητα των δύο νέων.

The Collage Museum's 15th Baker's Dozen International Collage Exchange deadline Oct 21 2009

Artists each make UP TO 13 collages, size 11"x14" (inches), and send them to Fort Worth, Texas, to arrive by October 21.
(you may also send as few as one)
Packages that arrive too late for the exchange will be held for the next exchange.


THEME: open

One collage is retained to be part of the permanent collection of the IMCAC, while remaining permanently on exhibition on the Museum's Internet site and possibly exhibited in future exhibitions held by the Museum.
The other 12 are distributed into parcels which are sent back to each contributing artist. So you send 13 of yours, get back 12 of others.
Certain works from the various exchanges will be selected for representing the Museum's flagship collection to be used for traveling exhibitions and as such will be framed in matching museum frames as funds are available. This prestigious flagship collection will be chosen by the director as being among the finest works in the collection and promoted as important examples of 21st century collage art.
